Migrants sneak over border from Mexico

(CNN) — More than 150 migrants from more than a dozen countries bypassed an incomplete border wall Monday, making a dash for freedom from the US south through unguarded sections of the frontier in South Texas.

“No just ran thru our fence… just killed 1 of my crew, another stuck under… someone got dragged for a mile and is suffering”

US Customs and Border Protection tweeted out the full photo gallery of the caravan of migrants — one of two groups sneaking over the border this week — which now contains about 175 people.

Though the migrants appeared to appear almost ready to panic if spotted on video of their journey, crossing the border is no easy feat.

“This is a hard situation,” Customs and Border Protection told reporters Monday. “There is lots of pushing and shoving.”

Agents had anticipated the migration since last month, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

“They’re not going to stick around for our game-plan,” Stephen Agnew, the chief patrol agent for the Border Patrol in the San Diego sector, told reporters Monday. “No one wants to stay in that location.

“This is a time to have them risk their lives to sneak across the Rio Grande.”

Getting through a heavily fortified border barrier isn’t even the most dangerous part of the journey.

The migrants passed through an open expanse of desert where little human traffic is found, according to CBP, making the trek more difficult. Many may seek asylum in the United States.
